Thai Massage is the foundation of everything we do at Authentic Thai Massage NYC — and the most-requested treatment in our studio.

Performed fully clothed on a mat, combining assisted stretching with targeted Sen-line pressure, this treatment releases deep tension, restores mobility, and resets the body from the inside out. Delivered by certified Thai therapists in a private, modern studio in the heart of Manhattan.

This is not a routine spa treatment. It's bodywork rooted in tradition, built for results, and refined over years of practice.

I had an excellent massage here from Faye — equal parts relaxing and rejuvenating! There was plenty of water available. The space is cozy and clean with the perfect amount of sunlight and ambient music. I also met Sasy who was very kind and ensured I had a great experience. And if you're in the area — what a beautiful escape from the bustling Bryant Park area. Looking forward to my next visit!

We did a couples Thai massage class with Sasighan and it was an amazing experience! She is professional and enthusiastic as a teacher — the class was unique, fun, and we learned a lot while basically getting a massage too. A wonderful way to celebrate my wife's birthday. I'd highly recommend it to anyone!

I was gifted a 60-min deep tissue massage here and am so thankful. The ladies are so kind and welcoming — I felt comfortable the instant I walked through the door. The massage was TRULY deep tissue (which I feel is rare!) and incorporated traditional stretching. The therapist was very knowledgeable. Can't wait to be back!

What Thai Massage Addresses

Ideal for anyone managing:

  • Chronic neck, shoulder, or lower-back tension from demanding desk work or long hours
  • Stiffness and soreness from regular workouts or athletic activity
  • Corporate travel fatigue, jet lag, or post-flight recovery
  • Reduced mobility or a persistent sense of tightness
  • Stress and mental fatigue from the relentless pace of New York

The most popular treatment in our studio. The best starting point for new clients, and the foundation of most returning clients' routines.

What Happens in a Thai Massage Session

Every session starts with a short conversation. Your therapist asks what you do all day, where the tension sits, whether anything is injured or recently aggravated, and how much pressure you actually want. That conversation shapes the session more than the service name does.

You change into loose cotton clothing we provide. Nothing is removed and no oil is used. The work happens on a padded mat on the floor rather than a table, which is what makes assisted stretching possible in the first place. If you have never done floor work before, say so, and your therapist will pace the opening ten minutes differently.

A traditional session follows the Sen lines, the pathways Thai medicine maps through the body, usually starting at the feet and working upward. Compression comes first, applied with palms, thumbs, forearms and sometimes feet. Stretching is layered in as the tissue releases: hip openers, spinal twists, shoulder and hamstring work. The rhythm is slow and deliberate, closer to being moved through yoga than to being rubbed.

You finish clothed, upright, and usually looser than you arrived. There is no shower to take and no oil to wash out of your hair, which is why many clients book Thai massage over a table treatment on a workday. Drink water afterwards, skip a heavy training session for a few hours, and expect the mobility to settle in over the following day or two.

A Private Room in the Heart of Manhattan

Your session takes place in one of two suites in our Manhattan studio — Suite 01 (Signature Suite) or Suite 07 (Balance Suite). Suite assignment is based on first-come-first-serve availability. Book in advance to maximize your chance of securing your preferred suite.

Both suites are designed for focused bodywork: controlled acoustics, warm lighting, and a calm environment.

How Long Should You Book?

Sixty minutes covers a full-body pass and suits a first visit or a session squeezed between meetings. Ninety is the length most returning clients settle on, because it leaves room to spend real time on whichever area is actually the problem without rushing the rest. Two hours is for a genuine reset: slower pacing, deeper stretching, and enough time for the nervous system to catch up with the work.

Traditional Thai Massage or a Table Massage?

Book traditional Thai massage when the complaint is stiffness, restricted range of motion, or that general compressed feeling after a long stretch of desk work and travel. The assisted stretching reaches hips, hamstrings and the thoracic spine in ways that hands alone do not. Book a table treatment instead when you want oil, warmth and long flowing strokes, or when one specific knot needs slow, localized attention.

If you want both, the Therapist's Combo exists for exactly that reason. Your therapist opens with Thai work on the mat and moves to the table for the areas that need oil and detail. Plenty of full-body Thai massage clients in NYC arrive asking for one and leave having booked the other.
